This paper presents figures and graphs, which place the Chilean scientific research within the Latin-American and world context. Then the architectural projects which applied for funds to FONDECYT in 1995, 1996, 1997 are reviewed in order to determine whether they were granted the founds and finally the stand the Chilean and French architects and schools of architecture have had in relation to scientific research.
