This papers deals with the evolution process of social housing in Argentina. It describes and analyses the most relevant stages of the 1860-1950 period, presenting the explanations, which enable an understanding of the causes and consequences of the housing process. It finished by suggesting a practical action ensuring concrete results versus large long-term planning which may lead to inconvenient postponing of the actions required in the present.
